JIL Milan Employers' Day (1 of 2)
We, Filipinos all over the world are like mushrooms that sprout everywhere. We are strangers to foreign land fighting for survival and it is not that easy. Some of us are maltreated, abused and the least fortunate; killed.
The OFW in Italy are really thankful to God and to our employers that we landed in this country that gives respect to human rights. Here, we have the freedom to enjoy as long as we are in the right tract. We also receive what is due to us and even more than what we are expecting from our employers. Their trust bestowed unto us, the love and affection they give and the support that they extend to most of us in times of our needs; indeed we are grateful to be a part of the Italian family!
As a token of gratitude to our employers, the JIL Church Milan for the first time celebrated the Employer’s Day last May 24, 2008. (Watch the replay of the Employer's Day) Several preparations were made to make them enjoy and to give them a bird’s eye-view of what we really treasure as Filipinos. The Filipiniana costume was required to leaders and workers and the hall was arranged and decorated according to the “Barrio Fiesta” style. This is to give our visitors a touch of our own custom and tradition.
Several folkdances were presented: the Pandango sa Ilaw, Tinikling and Maglalatik. The Solevites presented the different Filipino costumes, the CYN in their modern dance and our children sang and danced in the tune of “Imparero di Te”.
